Monday

The fun part. . .

Of all the preparation, all the cleaning, all the scrambling around trying to have everything done for baby #2 . . . planning the announcements has to be one of the most fun parts :) Right up there with setting up the crib yesterday with my husband. . .

WOW is it starting to be real for me!!!

Aside from my gigantic belly, of course :)

I have been playing around a bit. Trying to think of something cute, but not too complicated. I have a bazillion things to accomplish in the next few weeks, and don't want to overwhelm myself.

This fold was one that people have been showing from a regional that I did not attend. I used 12x12 Certainly Celery cardstock, cut to 4x12. Score at 4 and 8. You then score on a diagonal across the middle square. Fold and assemble! Super easy! I used sticky strip to adhere this closed, but be sure not to tape over your pocket or you will be sad ;)

My thoughts are--Have it planned, then maybe cut the paper and stamp the images before she gets here.

Color and assemble/embellish while she is asleep and I am on the couch recovering.

I can cut out 40 little pink onsies, right? It will be fun :)

Good thing I have some fab scissors. . .

My Signo Gel pen was used on the little heart, as well as all the dots everywhere.

Sorry about the shadow on this picture, but I think you can see where I am going with this!

The "info" will be printed on the left side (I am going to have this ready to fill in the blanks), and a sweet newborn picture tucked in on the right. . .I am thinking I will mount it with some removable adhesive on a tag. . .a little ribbon. . .etc. I will of course take another picture when I have them completed. . . and have a new baby! Yay :)

This would be an awesome card to give to a new mom, with a Gift Certificate to Target or some other baby friendly store. . .I will use any extras of my announcements for this.

The cardstock on the left is a layer of Pretty in Pink, then Whisper white. The flowers (So Saffron and Pretty in Pink) were punched with the Three for You Flower punch. Silver brads were used in the center.

On the left, I just cut a square of 3 3/4 So Saffron Designer paper in half on the diagonal. Fits perfectly :) The finished card is 4x4.

I used my stylus to press down in the center of each flower to make it pop up. It really makes a difference! Silver brads were used in the center.

I need to be sure to get one of these to the post office, and make sure it isn't going to be extra. If so, I should plan on getting the stamps early. . .no need to make my husband do it.

Or for him to go, "How much is it to mail 40 of these?!?!?!"

Yes, I had better see to that myself :)

Very cute! I made some long cards for announcements almost 5 years ago when my son was born. I had them all made up ahead of time, except for the data and a photo. Believe it or not, my husband helped me print/cut/glue/insert the last of it when we finally got home from the hospital and stuffed them into the envelopes with the addresses already printed on them and stamped so that we could get the announcements out right away. I was really happy that he eagerly helped out, and I think he enjoyed himself!

Those are great and I love the idea of using the extras for cards in the future. Very cute! I had some friends come assemble the final touches on my announcements and it was a lot of fun and went very quickly :-)

I LOVE these! I can't wait to see them with the photo of your darling daughter.

A word to the wise - I had my first baby (a boy) in August last year, and you will want to be taking advantage of all her naps to sleep as much as you possibly can! You may FEEL like you are not that tired, but that is just adrenaline, and you will crash eventually :S That said, I managed to get about 60 announcements (plus about 80 thank you cards) made and sent in the first few weeks of having my son, so it definitely can be done - and I don't think I was much worse for the wear. It's certainly more enjoyable than cleaning the house!

Anyway, love the design, and I think it is definitely do-able (especially since you know it's a girl - that part was a surprise for me!). Congratulations!

This is such a lovely card! I am so intrigued by the way you fold the card with the pocket inside! Is there any way you can point me to a tutorial of how to make this card? Does this technique has some kind of special name? I try to search for a tutorial but couldn't find anything! :( Any help you or some one else out there can give me will be greatly appreciate it! Thank you kindly!
